INTRODUCTION:
The purpose of this web site is to collect and present information relating to the history of karate in Ontario and Canada. It is anticipated that eventually we will be able to present information regarding organized karate in Ontario from its inception in 1958 to the present and information with respect to the Ontario teams that went to the annual Canadian National Championships, the Canadian National championship winners who earned places on the Canadian National karate teams, and how these team members fared in Pan American and World competition. As data is acquired this web site will attempt to also identify significant historic events, people, tournaments, coaches, officials and data sources.

One of the problems is collecting historical data, particularly from periods prior to wide use of the Internet and email. We are relying on photographs, medal collections, other web sites and various persons memories. As such the data on this web site will inevitably be imperfect. This data is collected on a best efforts basis. If anyone has better, more complete or more reliable information it would be welcomed.

At this time we are seeking reliable historical data. The data should relate to people, dojos, dates, tournaments, tournament results, team selection, officiating, coaching, Karate Ontario or Karate Canada (NKA) governance. Photographs of prominent individuals and locations would be helpful. Written records are enormously helpful. Relevant links to well organized data and photographs on other web sites are helpful.

This web page provides a list of people who have been or currently are prominent in karate in Ontario. For very prominent persons this list includes brief biographical information and links to biographical information provided on other web sites. Information relating to other karate related persons is welcome.

KARATE ONTARIO COMPETITION RESULTS
This web page provides a chronological list of tournament results for major tournaments in Ontario. For recent years there are links to dedicated web pages.

ONTARIO TEAMS
This is a list Ontario team members for each year. Except for 2002, this list is very incomplete. We need detailed information from anyone who has it.

KARATE CANADA NATIONAL COMPETITION RESULTS
This is a list of national competitions and the black belt division results for each competiton.

CANADIAN TEAM MEMBERS
This is a list of Canadian national team members for each year and identifies those who achieved medal standing in Pan American or World competition. There are links to other web sites. Prior to the year 2009 this list is very incomplete. We need detailed information from anyone who has it.

SOURCES
This is a list of documents and other sources which were relied upon to provide data shown on this web site. Data conflicts such as name spelling and ambiguous dates are resolved by this author on a best efforts basis.

EVOLUTION
This is a list of evolutionary events and related matters in the history of karate in Ontario.
