The SPI premises is fed by a 600V 3 phase delta which is transformer converted to a 120/208 V Wye.
Using the noise measurement apparatus described herein the 127 kHz RMS noise voltage on the SPI 120 volt power buses with respect to neutral was found to be:
PHASE------- | Vnm (RMS)--- | Vb------------------ | Vnr (RMS) |
---|---|---|---|
Blue | 4.35 mV | 4.04 mV/(kHz)0.5 | 22.4 mV |
Black | 4.18 mV | 3.88 mV/(kHz)0.5 | 21.52 mV |
Red | 4.50 mV | 4.18 mV/(kHz)0.5 | 23.17 mV |
Black High | 19.25 mV | 17.88 mV/(kHz)0.5 | 99.12 mV |
Earlier less accurate measurements made at 100 kHz indicated:
Blue Phase: Vnr = 21.6 mV RMS
Black Phase: Vnr = 95.7 mV RMS
Red Phase = 21.6 mV RMS
Note that the black phase has an intermittant noise source that has more than four times the amplitude of the other noise sources.
These electrical bus noise voltages are in the range contemplated by Systel. However, close to an operating SPI dimming ballast the noise voltage increases substantially, which may be an indication of possible future problems.
